Bessemer Process By: Nick W.
The reason that this process was created is because iron is too soft and tended to rust and they needed a better option. Thus, they created steel from iron through the Bessemer Process. This process was created by two people. These people were British Manufacturer, Henry Bessemer and American iron maker William Kelly. They created this process in the 1850s. The Bessemer Process eliminates the unwanted material in the iron, which are other elements that keep it from being pure, and carbon. Once these impurities are eliminated, steel is made. They eradicate the impurities by injecting air into molten iron. This processes was such a huge success that it was used to create more than 90% of the nation's steel by the 1890s.
